Skill Lesson Plan: Articulāte® Rapid eLearning Training
EAC 586 Submitted April 27, 2012 Instructional Design Theme |
LexisNexis CounselLink Invoice Review Project
EAC 581 Submitted April 20, 2014 Instructional Design Theme Group Project Members: Renee Haran, Ann Simmons, Lauren Beecher |
The second group of assignments picked to represent the instructional design theme are two finished and delivered projects.
The first is from EAC 586: Methods and Techniques of Training and Development. In this class we were asked to submit three lesson plans each focusing on the different goals of knowledge, attitude and skill. I chose the skill lesson plan as my representative.
While employed at a medical center, I used a product called Articulate to deliver training to a large audience of learners. The Organizational Training and Development department had multiple requests from the medical center to learn how to use the software. They reached out to me to teach a course. The lesson plan demonstrates Gagne and Medsker’s instructional events and incorporates Silbermans Qualities of Active Training. The assignment demonstrated the instructional design process. I analyzed the need and audience for the class. Then designed and developed the course with relevant objectives and goals. Objectives were further defined with criteria and conditions. This lesson plan also planned for the implementation of the course by providing a step by step instructional guide and finally a plan for the evaluation was included. Evaluation consisted of take home practice and a rubric for rating proficiency.
The second is from EAC 581: Advanced Instructional Design. The major project in this course was to collaborate with a team and produce an instructional design project for a client. This assignment differed from the first because it was team based. Much more like a real life work experience. This project incorporated the ADDIE process to complete a learning manual for LexisNexis CounseLink software. Before this project the software program had no targeted documentation for learners on the operation and processes of reviewing invoices. Our team worked collaboratively to produce a classroom manual, and teaching script and an evaluation strategy.
This assignments are significant because they represent the application of new skills to the workplace. The skill lesson plan was developed and taught to other professionals. The team instructional design project was adopted almost completely by the client and is used today in client instruction.
